Books galore

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

Yesterday I received a very exciting delivery through the post. A big brown-paper-wrapped parcel that was so heavy, the Postman asked me how many gold ingots were in there (I wish!).

Enclosed was a selection of business books dealing with various aspects of online marketing and trading. Absolutely perfect material for me to get stuck into, covering all sorts of different topics, so will hopefully give me some great ideas for the business and inspiration for ways to improve the Chiggs website.

One of the books specifically deals with blogging- “for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community” reads the blurb, so once I’ve read that one I’m hoping for great(er!) things here at the Chiggs blog! čÖé

So how did this treasure trove of information come to be resting on my coffee table? The best news of all is that I won the whole package!

A while ago Mumsnet (a parenting website that I have been a member of since 2005 when I was seeking help with potty training Chiglet!) started a business section on the forums in association with Barclays Bank, and together they ran a ‘Barclays on Mumsnet’ Online Business Fortnight. I took part, tweeted a few tweets, and lo and behold a few weeks ago received a message to say that I had won their book giveaway.

I shall report back with book reviews shortly!

A Royal thank you.

It seemed like the whole world was watching London last month awaiting the birth of the Royal baby. Here at Chiggs HQ I was glued to the news, (and shhh- don’t tell anyone but I’ve kept all the Royal baby supplements from the newspaper, too). So when the birth of Prince George was announced on the 22nd of July we popped a blue Baby Feed Wheel in the post to Clarence House as a ‘congratulations’ and ‘well done’ ┬áto Catherine and William, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Last Week we were incredibly excited when the postman delivered a letter with a Buckingham Palace postmark, and inside was a postcard with a gorgeous picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the steps of the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital, introducing their new baby boy to the world!

On the back of the card is a printed thank you message:-

” The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were most touched that you took the trouble to write as you did on the occasion of the birth of their son, Prince George.

Their Royal Highnesses have been overwhelmed by all the wonderful messages they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes”

How lovely! I love to think that Kate may even be using her Baby Feed Wheel to keep track of baby George’s feed times čÖé

Great service whatever the weather

Two blog posts in two days- once I get going there’s no stopping me! I wanted to share a lovely email that came through on Tuesday

Harrogate Postman making his way through the snow on The Stray!

Dear Chiggs

My order arrived safely yesterday despite the nasty weather.  Great service.  Thank you

Well, firstly, it’s an absolute pleasure, we take customer service very seriously here at Chiggs, (both for customers buying Chiggs Wheels through the Chiggs online shop, and our trade and wholesale┬ácustomers buying Chiggs Wheels to sell through their shops!)

Secondly, what a super email to receive- I do appreciate our happy customer taking the time to send us such a lovely message.

And thirdly, well done to the Royal Mail Posties, too! We’ve had some pretty┬áheavy snowfalls here in North Yorkshire over the last couple of weeks, and yet here at Chiggs HQ we haven’t missed a single delivery, even on Monday when the schools here were all closed for a “snow day”, our postman delivered (although not wearing his customary shorts on that day, I noticed!)
