Buy British Day

Friday, October 3rd, 2014

Friday the 3rd of October sees the very first ‘Buy British Day’.

You can follow the #buybritishday hashtag on social media to find out more about the campaign and connect with british businesses you may want to buy from!

Buy British Day

As regular blog readers will know, Chiggs is very proud that Chiggs Wheels are all printed and handfinished in the UK. Our printers are a lovely Lancashire based family business, and our envelopes, cellophane wrappers and even the sticky pads we use to hand-embellish our cards with are all made in Yorkshire.

So ‘Buy British’ today! The full range of Chiggs Wheels- Baby Feed Wheels, Baby Medicine Wheel and Get Well Wheels- are available from the shop on the Chiggs website, and our cards can also be bought from our stockists -have a browse on the stockist page to find a Wheel near you!

If you’re a retailer who would like to join the British revolution, Chiggs Wheels are all available to trade at wholesale prices, or we can send you a trade price and terms by email if you fill in the trade enquiry form.

Tour de France- global phenomenon with a local legacy?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014

Here at Chiggs we love Harrogate, and we love ‘Wheels‘, so we are naturally very excited that this weekend our home town will be hosting the Tour de France!

Yellow bike at Harrogate Tourist Information centre

‘The Tour de France cycle race is a global phenomenon, televised on over 85 TV channels in 190 countries- but what will be the local legacy for an area like Harrogate  from the Tour de France Yorkshire legs? It will put Yorkshire firmly on the map (as if it wasn’t already!) with hopefully more tourists coming to visit (and cycle) our magnificent Dales in the coming months.

A bonus in these straightened financial times would be a boost to the local economy from the event itself. A couple of enterprising local ladies have been supplying local businesses with yellow, green and spotty bunting reflecting the colours of the Tour de France cycling jerseys, and local gift shops have been doing a roaring trade selling the bunting to people wanting to decorate their houses with it!

In my role as manager of a junior cricket team playing in the Nidderdale league, I’ve been driving (with my cricketing daughter!) round a lot of the route the Tour de France cyclists will be tackling this weekend, while on my way to our away matches recently. I’ve seen a lot of ads from all sorts of businesses on the route with green spaces offering camping (the hotels in  Harrogate apparently sold out within days of the announcement that the Tour de France would be coming to Yorkshire). Very entrepreneurial, and obviously fulfilling a need-Harrogate Rugby Club has a full field of tents booked- sold out! What a great boost to the finances of the sports club!

Tonight Chiglet and I are going to the Tour de France opening ceremony at the Leeds Arena which we are very excited about. Le Tour de Yorkshire leg of the Tour de France is about to start, and we at Chiggs can’t wait to be there for the ride!

Greeting Chiggs stockists.

Thursday, March 6th, 2014

We have had a real variety of wholesale orders so far this year; re-orders from our regular retailers and we also have some brand new stockists of Chiggs Wheels.

The ‘Stockists’ page on the Chiggs website has been updated. This page  lists our retailers, ‘bricks and mortar’ shops county by county, and also has  ‘jump’ links to our international stockists, and to the online retailers who also sell Chiggs Wheels.  This is an incredibly diverse range of companies, including businesses offering baby gifts, greeting cards, children’s clothing, new baby hampers, nappy cakes and baby shower goodies. Phew!

New retailers to join the Chiggs family since our last stockist update in January include Smartieprints who specialise in personalised gifts, Lemon House Gifts, based in Preston, and Baby Cakes to Celebrate have added Baby Feed Wheels and Baby Medicine Wheels to their range.

A new shop recently opened up in Darlington, County Durham, Love Style Home, are selling Baby Feed Wheel ‘new baby’ congratulations cards and also the Get Well Wheel ‘get well soon’ cards.

We’ve also made deliveries to fellow Yorkshire businesses recently, Pots 2 Go ceramic cafe here in Harrogate (pictured above), Appleby Cards and Gifts in Otley, and Magpie Greetings (also in Harrogate, and incidentally our very first stockist way back in 2006!) have all reordered Chiggs Wheels for the delectation of their customers.

If you would like to sell Chiggs Wheels through your business, have a look at our Trade and Wholesale page, and either fill in the trade enquiry form or send us an email for more information. We’d love to hear from you!
