Harrogate Christmas Market

Saturday, November 24th, 2012

This festive season our lovely town of Harrogate is holding it’s very first Christmas Market. We’ve been watching the preparations for a few days, as the marquees and stalls have been put up on a triangle of the Stray at the bottom of Montpelier Hill and Cold Bath Road. While fully intending to visit yesterday (Thursday) for the light switch on, Holly and I wimped out due to the monsoon-rain like conditions. However, this evening (Friday) has been a lovely clear and crisp winter night, so we had a walk down into town from Chiggs Headquarters, to enjoy the atmosphere and do a little Christmas shopping.

It was super! Holly was distracted by the stalls selling sweets, cupcakes and biscuits, while I’m a human magpie- love anything sparkly and shiny- and there were lots of different jewellery and gift stalls to keep me happy. We bought a few Christmas presents and chatted to some lovely stallholders about their businesses- one even said Holly should be running her own business as she did the hard sell (on me!) and I really will not be surprised if that prophesy comes true; my daughter is already showing a real entrepreneurial spirit even at the age of 9!

The Harrogate Christmas Market is well worth a visit, and is on for the next two days- Saturday the 23rd of November (10am-7pm) and Sunday 25th of November (10am-5pm). We hope it will become a regular feature of Christmas in Harrogate!

There are also a couple of events in Yorkshire that Chiggs stockists will be attending this weekend:

Little PJS will be at the Christmas Gift & Food Fair at Ripon Cathedral on Saturday the 24th of November (10:00 ’til 16:00) Entrance is £2.50, accompanied children are free. There will be over 70 stalls including gifts for all the family, food and wine tastings, home-made Christmas cakes, Santa’s Grotto, face-painting and children’s activities.

Baby Blessed will be taking their range of gifts and childrens products to the Christmas Fair at Shay Stadium, Halifax on Sunday the 25th November 2012

In addition, Twinkle Twinkle, a lovely baby and toddler shop in Sandbach, Cheshire who sell Chiggs Wheels have some late night openings for you to crack on with the Christmas shopping, on Friday 30th November they will be open until 8pm and every Thursday to Christmas will be open until 8pm too.

New Mum News.

More new mums are opting to breastfeed but very few stick at it for long enough, according to the latest UK figures from the NHS  (2010 Infant Feeding Survey). A  poll of more than 10,000 women was taken, showing that 81 in every 100 start breastfeeding, (up from 76 in 2005). However, after one week fewer than half of all new mothers are still exclusively breastfeeding. The commentary to go with the study says that new mums are facing the same common reasons for stopping breastfeeding- problems with the baby rejecting the breast or not latching on properly, having painful breasts or nipples and feeling that they had ‘insufficient milk’.

In other breastfeeding news, there has been rather a lot of discussion on various social media platforms about a new breastfeeding dolly for little girls that has come on the market. Called the ‘breast milk baby’, the doll comes with a little top for a child to wear which has a couple of  little flowers on the front which are used to nurse the doll. The doll then needs winding properly or it wails. And the point that has caused most controversy?  The doll costs a whopping $89!

It’s that time of year again- you’ve got flu, you’re a bit feverish, yet  have to take your flu remedy tablets every 4 hours. It’s a nightmare to remember what time you took them and when you can safely dose yourself up with the next lot!

This is where the Get Well Wheel is a godsend:-

Take tablets (lots of water!)

Set the numbers on the dial to show the time your flu medicine was taken

Pop your Get Well Wheel on the mantelpiece or bedside table.

Easy!

Each card is supplied with an envelope, so you can write a little get well soon message on the back and post it as a card or pressie to someone who’s feeling under the weather.

There are 3 embellishments to choose from, a red hot water bottle, pretty pink hottie-bottle or orange flower with green leaf design. Available for just £4.20 (free delivery!) from the Chiggs shop. It’s brilliant to add to a get well soon hamper and as with all Chiggs Wheels available at wholesale prices. Fill in our trade enquiry form for a trade price and information.
